Japan relaxes travel advisory [October 15 2010]

With the improved security situation in the country, the Japanese government has decided to further relax its travel advisory on the Northern province.

“ Following the improvement on the current situation in the country, the Ministry has decided to reduce the security cautionary level in Jaffna, Kilinochchi, Vavuniya and Mannar cities on a par with the city of Colombo”, a statement released by the Embassy said.

Earlier, the Foreign Affairs Ministry of Japan recommended the Japanese nationals to ‘defer all travel to the areas other than the cities of Vavuniya and Mannar.

But other areas in the North are not yet considered for travel as de-mining activities are going on. as safe as not yet declared as the areas .
