According to the Elections Secretariat sources registration of political parties is underway. The Secretariat said that interviews will be initiated this week in this regard.
82 parties are reported to have applied for registration. The Elections Secretariat said that letters have already been dispatched, calling for the interviews.
According to the new elections act a party will be registered only after engaging in five years of active politics. The Elections Secretariat further said that this was focused on when calling for the interviews. The registration of parties will be ended before the forthcoming local Government Elections.
