Reconstructed Murugan Kovil opened in Kalmadu [October 18 2010]

The reconstructed Sri Murugan Kovil in Kalmadu Unit II was handed over to Hindu devotees in a function held yesterday. The Kovil had been destroyed by the LTTE terrorists as it was utilized by the terrorists for their activities for over a decade.

The Kovil was reconstructed by the 611 Brigade deploying in the area under 61 Division. It is significant that after 12 years Hindu devotees living in the area with peace and harmony commenced their religious activities at the reconstructed Sri Murugan Kovil.

Over 300 Tamil families those who are living in the Kalmadu unit II area will be benefited in this reconstruction. The function was held at the Kovil premises under the patronage of Security Forces Commander (Wanni) Maj General Kamal Gunarathna. 61 Div Commander Brig A. Kariyakarawana, 611 Brigade commander Brig Devendar Perera, army officers and hundreds of Hindu devotees living in the area participated at the event.
