President instructs govt. officials to be unbiased [October 20 2010]

Calling the government officials to be partial and serve equally, irrespective of their caste, ethnicity or religion, President Mahinda Rajapaksa emphasized the need to expediate on-going development process in the Northern province.

He said the renovation school buildings and dilapidated infrastructure, build new housing facilities, speed up resettlement,improve livelihood avenues, prevent encroachment of land, provide viable transportation, electricity needed to be speed up. Participating at a development review meeting held in Vavuniya yesterday he said the assistance to the masses should be distributed equally.

Being the first ever President to attended a development review meeting in the Northern Province, he told the government officials to ensure that the dividends of peace go to the public in the form of economic development.

The President also stated that he had received certain complaints from the public on the issue and told them to act impartially and prevent a recurrence if such issues exist.

President Rajapaksa reviewed the progress of development work in the province and discussed future plans. He brought to the notice of the officials several shortcomings and advised them to take swift measures to rectify the anomalies.
