North to be fully illuminated by 2012

<p>The Ministry of Power and Energy targets to fully electrify the Northern province by the 2012.

<p>With the assistance of the ADB and the JICA Northern electrification projects have already been commenced in Kilinochchi and Mullatiivu districts.

<p>According to the Ministry sources, about Over 4,500 electrification projects have been implemented under the "Vidulamu Lanka" program, which will be completed within the next four years.

<p>Sources said 60 percent of Jaffna district, 37 percent of Mannar district, and 62 percent of Vavuniya district have been electrified so far.
