Soldiers assist to build 4,575 new houses and renovate 2,758 houses in North [October 27 2010]

The soldiers of the Sri Lanka Army (SLA) supporting the resettled families have helped to build 4,575 new houses and rebuilt or renovated 2,758 partly damaged houses in the North.

With the assistance of the donors – private sector and NGOs- the SLA has built houses in Vavuniya, Mannar, Kilinochchi, Mullaittivu and Jaffna for the resettled displaced people.

A total of 2293 new houses has been built in Kilinochchi by the soldiers, in addition to 1030 houses in Mullaittivu, 662 in Wanni, 572 in Jaffna and 18 in the East.
