Cabinet approves LLRC’s new Advisory Committee [October 28 2010]

The Cabinet has approved the establishment of an Advisory Committee to implement the recommendations of the Lessons Learnt and Reconciliation Commission (LLRC) appointed by the President Mahinda Rajapaksa to investigate the causes for the three decades old conflict.

The decision was taken to implement the proposals made by the LLRC, which testified several key personalities including veteran diplomats, military commanders, media, politicians and the civilians in the North and the East, soon.

The LLRC, which is headed by the former Attorney General C. R. de Silva, is scheduled to submit its final report within six months from its first session held on August 11.
