‘Shilpa Sri Lanka’ in New Delhi [October 28 2010]

Sri Lanka’s leading craftsmen are now displaying masks, rush and reed work, lacquer ware, ceramic ware, wooden toys, batik and jewellery at the ‘Shilpa Sri Lanka’ handicraft exhibition in Dilli Haat, New Delhi.

The exhibition of handmade crafts to mark the 62 nd year of diplomatic relations and trade between India and Sri Lanka, has organized by the National Crafts Council with the High Commission of Sri Lanka in India, will be held until November 11.

Indian High Commission sources said an exhibition by the Indian and Sri Lankan master Craftsmen will be held in Sri Lanka in March 2011 following an idea mooted during a meeting between the High Commissioner Ashok K. Kantha and the National Crafts Council.

At the meeting a number of other proposals was made to enhance bi-lateral cooperation in the field of handicrafts.
