Sanga confident after morale-boosting win [November 1 2010]

Sri Lanka captain Kumar Sangakkara said that his team is brimming with confidence as they prepare for their upcoming three-match one day international series against Australia.

Fresh after their convincing seven-wicket win over Australia in Sunday’s one-off Twenty20 game at the WACA grounds in Perth, Sangakkara said it was a morale boosting victory that would inspire his team to press for a win against Australia in the ODI series.

“We should not be overconfident as Australians will be a different kettle of fish in the one day international series. Nevertheless, we are focused to capitalize on this magnificent win and make our presence felt in Australia,” he said after Sri Lanka’s triumph in Perth.

The two teams are due to arrive in Melbourne on Monday to prepare for their opening match of the ODI series to be played at the MCG on Wednesday (3).
