Western Province completed another successful Sports Festival as they emerged overall champions for another year at the 36th National Sports Festival concluded at the Bogambara Stadium in Kandy today.
They continued their dominance while winning most of the track and field events as well as the team events. Central Province emerged runners up and North Western Province were placed third in the overall championship. However North Western Province had the satisfaction winning the overall title in both men’s and women’s track and field events. The Speaker of the Parliament Chamal Rajapaksa was the chief guest at the awards ceremony.
