Seven Bills before Parliament this week [November 7 2010]

Parliament will have a busy schedule this week as it plans to take up seven Bills for debate. This weeks sessions before the House prepares for the 2011 Budget presentation and debate from November 22.

The seven Bills to be presented in Parliament this week include the Registration of Deaths of Persons (Temporary Provisions) Bill and the Gaming (Special Provisions) Bill. The other Bills to be taken up for debate are Secretary to the Treasury (Nomination of Representative) Bill, Default Taxes (Special Provisions) Bill, Public Enterprises Reform Commission of Sri Lanka (Repeal) Bill, Recovery of Loans by Banks (Special Provisions) (Amendment) Bill and the Regulation of Insurance Industry (Amendment) Bill.

The debate to extend the emergency regulations by another month is to be taken up in the House on Tuesday (9). After this weeks sessions the House will meet again on November 22 when the 2011 Budget would be presented. The Appropriation Bill 2011 will be debated from November 23 to December 10. The vote on the Second Reading will be on November 29, while the Committee stage begins on November 30 and ends on December 10.
