103-year old joins Face book [December 17 2010]

London: A 103-year-old woman in Britain has reportedly become the oldest 'Face book' user in the world. Lillian Lowe uses her iPad to log on to the popular social networking site often to keep in touch with her seven grandchildren and 13great-grandchildren, British tabloid 'The Sun' reported.

"I love it -- it's very exciting. It's a wonderful way of finding out about things. I recommend it for any grandparents to keep in touch with family," the surfing centenarian was quoted as saying.

The ex-hotelier and businesswoman, who can remember the Titanic sinking in 1912, has 34 Face book pals. She also chats often with great-granddaughter Kaylee, ten, and loves seeing her photos and chatting online.

In fact, Lowe was shown the site by her 47-year-old grandson Steve. He said: "She's very keen to know what young people are doing. She might raise an eyebrow at a few of the teenage antics she sees on Face book, but she takes it all in her stride. "Ivy Bean of Bradford, who died aged 104 in July, was thought to be the previous record-holder.
