Ministry to deal with vaccine ‘thieves’ [December 30 2010]

The Health Ministry is to take action against those who sold the A H1N1 vaccines to the private sector hospitals.

According to Ministry sources, the vaccine detected from a private hospital which charges a fee of Rs. 100 for a single vial of the vaccine is only available in the state hospitals and Medical Supplies Division.

He said the vaccines were a donation by the World Health Organization and a vaccine is costs about Rs. 1,200.

Ministry has commenced an investigation to find out how the vaccine stocks were sent to private sector.
