President on his way to USA to attend the UN general assembly [September 19 2008]

President Mahinda Rajapaksa is due to arrive in New York this weekend to attend the 63rd annual session of the United Nations. The President left the BIA this afternoon with the Sri Lanka delegation.

President Rajapaksa will participate in the UN summit along with more than 100 world leaders led by the Secretary General of the UN Ban Ki Moon.

The session for the state heads and ministers to address the gathering will begin on Tuesday. President Rajapaksa will be the first speaker lined up for Wednesday morning.
