Two people promoting the ‘Pyramid Scheme’ lottery scam and 10 others attending a publicity programme on the illegal scheme were arrested by Kurunegala police today. The group was arrested in a house at Ganewatta. Police also seized a laptop from the suspects.
Central Bank Assistant Director A.K. Gamage said, the racket had now moved to the North Western Province following crackdown in other parts of the country.
He said the Criminal Investigations Department was on the look out for those promoting the illegal pyramid scheme among the public.
