President Mahinda Rajapaksa had a bilateral meeting with his Iranian counterpart Mahmoud Ahamadinejad at UN Headquarters in New York. The Lankan President expressed his appreciation on the assistance given by Iranian Government to solve the power crisis in Sri Lanka.
Both leaders had an extensive discussion about the progress of the Uma Oya Irrigation Project, modernization of Sapugaskanda refinery. President Rajapaksa outlined programs which have been implemented to develop the agricultural sector on local objectives and the agricultural subsidiaries.
