High Commissioner of United Nations High Commissioner for refugees Antonio Guterres appreciated the long lasting partnership that the UNHCR has developed with Minister Mahinda Samarasinghe and his team in addressing critical issues affecting the internally displaced persons in Sri Lanka under difficult circumstances.
He made these observations while addressing the Executive Committee of the United Nations High Commissioner for refugees in Geneva.
Antonio added that he is strongly committed to the UNHCR's work in Sri Lanka. Minister Samarasinghe said that Sri Lanka has long relationship with UNHCR and the UNHCR in Sri Lanka has supported the government and complemented own efforts to assist the displaced citizens in Sri Lanka .
