President Mahinda Rajapakse emphasised that now is the time for the LTTE to lay down their arms and surrender. He said surrender is the option open for the terrorists who have reached the end of their battle.
The president stresses that nothing will be offered as an incentive for terrorists to lay down their weapon. He recollected the many years spent to try to persuade the terrorists to enter a political settlement. He made these comments in an exclusive interview with the Middle-based Al-Jazeera television.
President Rajapakse said the military campaign will continue till the terrorists are defeated. Thereafter a political settlement will be found. He added that the new Sri Lanka has no place for terrorists
