Parliamentarian Karuna Amman made two separate appeals to President Mahinda Rajapaksa and international community when he addressed a massive TVMP rally in Batticaloa today. He requested President Rajapaksa to rescue innocent civilians, now held by the Tiger terrorists in Wanni, as the Government liberated the civilians in the Eastern Province.
The TVMP leader - Vinayagamoorthy Muralitharan, also requested the international community to apply pressure on the LTTE to release innocent civilians now being held by Veluppillai Prabhakaran as a human shield. The Anti-Tamil Nadu rally at the Weber grounds was organized by the TVMP.
