Coast Guard impounds two Sri Lankan boats [September 27 2008]

The Coast Guard seized two Sri Lankan fishing boats with five crew members each off Puducherry over the weekend. An official release said the boats were found 62 nautical miles off the Puducherry light house around 2 a.m. by a Coast Guard patrol vessel Vivek. The boats along with the crew were handed over to the local police in Chennai.

Coast Guard ship Ramadevi apprehended a Sri Lankan boat with five crew members about 51 nautical miles off Machilipattinam in Andhra Pradesh. They were brought to Chennai and handed over to the local police, the release said.
