31 civilians escape LTTE terror rule 20081105_05

A group of 31 Tamil civilian including 3 infants, who had escaped the LTTE held areas, sought protection with security forces reached Jaffna last morning. As the two boats in which the group was traveling were detected, the naval patrol craft rushed to their assistance and accompanied them to naval protection.

The civilians are residents of Mullaian, Kaddaikadu, Paranthan, Kilinochchi and Champianpaththu areas say reports. The innocent Tamil civilians living in non-liberated areas in the North have to undergo severe hardships as a result of LTTE activities, including extortion and conscription of youngsters.

There is a majority of civilians willing to flee the LTTE clutches but they ultimately end up been LTTE prisoners where these innocent civilians are forcibly been used to do the construction work of the LTTE. Those who fled the LTTE clutches have been provided with food as well as necessary medical treatment and later handed over to the Kankesanturai Police. All the arrangements have been made to provide shelter for civilians, said government officials in Jaffna.
