Civilian rescue mission continues

Assuring the evacuation of every person trapped inside the ‘No Fire Zone’, the Secretary to the Ministry of Defence Gotabhaya Rajapaksa said that the ongoing military operations will continue until Prabhakaran is caught and the Army completely capture the land.

“Almost 98% of the civilians trapped inside the ‘No Fire Zone’ have reached the cleared areas and the humanitarian operations of the Sri Lanka Army to liberate these people will be the first priority,” Rajapaksa said speaking to the Observer Online on the current situation.

The Defence Secretary further confirmed that irrespective of LTTE propaganda locally as well as internationally, the mission to rescue people trapped in the `No Fire Zone’ will continue.Condemning the allegations on the alleged civilian casualties Gotabhaya Rajapaksa said, “The Sri Lanka Army planned the operation in a very professional manner preventing any attacks on civilians.
