Landslide victory for UPFA in Gampaha and Kalutara Districts The United People’s Freedom Alliance registered a landslide victory in Gampaha and Kalutara Districts, gaining a majority of 26 seats in Saturday’s Western Provincial Council elections. The UPFA polled more than 400,000 votes over second-placed UNP in the Gampaha District. The ruling UPFA secured 27 seats from Gampaha District while the UNP won only 10. The one seat each from Gampaha District were won by the JVP and SLMC. The UPFA had a majority of nine seats from Kalutara District.
