Vass to return at the expense of Mendis

Veteran paceman Chaminda Vaas is set to regain his place in the Sri Lanka team for the third and final Test against Pakistan which is due to commence at SSC grounds, Colombo on Monday. The left-arm quick bowler who has captured more than 300 Test wickets, was overlooked for the first two Tests.

Informed sources told the Observer Online that Vaas, the most successful fast bowler for Sri Lanka in Test cricket, will make way at the expense of Ajantha Mendis, who has failed to maintain his early from. Having won the first two Tests in Galle and at Sara Stadium, Sri Lanka takes a winning 2-0 lead in the three-Test series.
