Guard your mouth, Dayasri  tells Fonseka [September 11 2010]

UNP Kurunegala district MP Dayasiri Jayasekera said that DNA leader Sarath Fonseka was currently paying the price for his unguarded sayings in the past. He told a media briefing that there would be serious consequences if Fonseka did not guard his mouth and stop castigating the UNP over the 18th Amendment.

The “UNP is not ready to dance to the tune of the DNA. They must show some flexibility if they plan to join forces with the UNP. We have learned a number of lessons by working with them together in the past. Fonseka’s should learn to work with the Opposition,” he said.

“If he opines that he can make his journey alone, he is sadly mistaken. Therefore, I appeal to him not to lose whatever respect we have for him. If someone makes accusations against our party, we too feel likewise. We sacrificed everything to back his political campaign then. He would have to face the consequences of his verbal attacks in the future” Jayasekera was responding to media queries about the DNA leader’s statements criticising the UNP’s protest campaign against the 18th Amendment.
