Lankan expatriates commend Canadian decision to relax travel advisory [September 14 2010]

Sri Lankan expatriates in Canada have commended the Canadian government’s decision to relax the travel advisory on the North and the East.

The Friends of Sri Lanka (CFSL), an group of Sri Lankan expatriates in Canada, said that the Canadian government took the decision as the situation is peaceful.

“Sri Lanka is now a terrorism free country and anyone can travel throughout the country without fear. We must thank the Canadian High Commissioner in Sri Lanka, Bruce Levy who has insisted on several occasions that the country is safe and peaceful”, the CFSL said in a statement.

They said that the positive image would help re-build Sri Lanka despite negative campaign spearheaded by pro-LTTE groups based in Canada.
