Cultivating export crops in N-E mulled Mohammed Naalir

The, Industries and Commerce Ministry is exploring the possibility of cultivating export crops in the Northern and Eastern provinces.

Industries and Commerce Minister Rishad Badiudeen said that it would take at least two years to lay a strong foundation to develop the export sector in the North and the East.

Minister Badiudeen has directed the Export Development Board to take steps to setup export trade zones in the North and the East. A separate office will be set up in Mannar for the purpose. The delegation led by EDB Executive Director Dr. Yusuf Marikkar visited

Vavuniya and Mannar recently to explore the possibility of cultivating export crops in these areas, the Minister said.
