Moves are afoot to set up four garment factories in Achchuweli, Jaffna at acost of 12 million US dollars, Traditional Industries and Small Enterprise Ministry Secretary, Sivagnana Sothi said.
He said that after the opening of the proposed garment factories 4000 unemployed youth in the Jaffna peninsula will get employment. A committee has also been set up to study the feasibility of setting up garment factories in Achchuweli.
He said that under the "Uthuru Wasanthaya" (Northern Spring) program the Government has launched several development projects in the North.
