Karadiyanaru Police station completely destroyed: China to probe deaths 

The three containers of explosives, which exploded this morning, had been kept in the premises of the Karadiyanaru police stations for safekeeping, the initial investigations have disclosed. The police station was shattered to rabbles with no trace of bodies of any policemen.

The explosive material was to be used for development projects handled by a Chinese construction company that was involved in the development work in the area. “Two Chinese workers came close to noon today to withdraw the explosives needed for the day at their construction site. While the Chinese duo opened up one container, the explosives began to explode with a massive noise, causing a huge damage,” an onlooker told Observer Online. 

Over 20 dead bodies have been recovered so far and soldiers are engaged in search operation for dead bodies. Sri Lanka Army transported over 50 critically injured persons to the Batticaloa National Hospital. The reason for the accidental blast, which also killed the two Chinese workers, is not known yet but the Chinese Government tool said they will have anther investigation to help local authorities. The investigations are continuing.
