UNP’s Southern PC members all out to oust Ranil

[September 20 2010]

The United National Party (UNP) members in the Galle District passed a resolution to organise a protest march to Colombo in two weeks to hand over a petition to party leader Ranil Wickremasinghe, demanding him to step down from the top seat immediately.

UNP Southern Provincial Councilor Maithri Gunaratne has confirmed the resolution was passed with a majority vote.

The UNP group at the SPC passed another resolution, calling on the party to seek the opinion of provincial councilors and local government members when taking important decisions of the party.

They also urged Wickremesinghe to implement the party reforms before the next local government elections so that UNP candidates could contest the polls more confidently.
