Lankan Tamil refugee arrested in India September 22 2010

A Sri Lankan Tamil refugee was arrested for allegedly cheating a group of people by promising them jobs in Australia.Following a tip-off, police intercepted the bus carrying 37 Sri Lankan refugees at Kollidam Tollgate near Tiruchy and found out that Sudarshan with three others collected Indian Rs 150,000 from the group by making false promises.

The refugees informed the police that Sudarsanan had asked them to assemble at Puzhal near Chennai. He took the group to various temples in the district and around, telling them that they would be sent to Australia from Pudukottai coast by a boat.

Police said the refugees, including 11 women and 5 children, who belonged to various camps including the ones in Mandapam, Kanyakumari, Salem, Namakkal and Vazhavandan Kottai were sent back to their respective camps after questioning.
