The new market complex for pavement hawkers at Nugegoda will be opened soon. The Central Engineering Consultancy Bureau has been instructed to complete the construction work within ten days, a spokesman for the Economic Development Minsitry told the Observer Online.
The building with a large open space provides room for nearly 500 traders. A few months ago the pavement hawkers were evacuated. The new building is cited near the super market building. Economic Development Minister Basil Rajapaksa inspected the construction site yesterday with Petroleum Industries Minister Susil Premjayantha and several ministry officials.
