Over 420 ex-LTTE cadres sent home today [September 30 2010]

Over 420 ex-LTTE cadres, who have completed rehabilitation, have been released to their parents at a ceremony held in Vavuniya this morning.

Commissioner General of Rehabilitation Brig. Sudantha Ranasinghe said the remaining ex-LTTE cadres under going rehabilitation would be released in batches.

“We have landed over 247 males and 158 females to their families. They were given vocational training in the fields of carpentry, computer, wiring, construction and beauty culture”, he said.

Among the released ex-cadres there are disabled and married rehabilitates. Nearly 8,000 ex-cadres are still under going rehabilitation and over 11,000 LTTEers surrendered to the military during the final days of the battled that defeated the LTTE in May 2009.
