President Rajapaksa invited to address Oxford Union       [October 02 2010]

Commending President Mahinda Rajapaksa’s political leadership to end the 30-year war against LTTE terrorism, the Oxford Union has been invited the President to address its session.

This is the second time President Rajapaksa has been invited to address the Union.  The President of the Union, James Kingston, in his invitation to President Rajapaksa, says : "Your successful conclusion of t his 30 year military conflict ranks as one of the most significant acts seen by the world in recent years; and, in conjunction with the Sri Lankan Society of Oxford, we humbly wish to use the occasion of your visit to present you with a mark of the Oxford Union’s respect for your accomplishment in fostering lasting peace," Kingston says on behalf of the Oxford Union.
