1,000 secondary schools to be set up [October 05 2010]

Education Minister Bandula Gunawardene told the Parliament today that there are nearly 3,000 schools with less than 100 students in the country. In order to safeguard the primary schools, a decision has been taken to set up 1,000 secondary schools countrywide, he said.

The Minister said some schools have 30 or 32 students. The Minister was responding to an oral question raised by the UNP MP Sajith Premadasa.
