The Cement Corporation plans to increase its exiting cement production by 100 percent under a new plan to boost its production and create more employment opportunities, Corporation Chairman Sisira Paranagama said.
Over four million metric tones of cement are manufactured while catering a demand of 4.5 million metric tones annually. “ Sri lanka imports over 200,000 metric tones of cement annually”, he said.
The Chairman said the cement consumption had increased as a result of ongoing infrastructure development projects including road network projects in the Northern and Southern Provinces in the country.
