Kurunegala Police earns Rs. 80 million     October 08 2010]

The Kurunegala Police division has made record revenue of Rs. 80 million from the first 10 months of this year. This is double the revenue the Police collected from last year.

The main revenue generator for the Kurunegala Police division has been from traffic offenders which accumulated to over Rs. 60 million.

In addition Police have also raided brothels, Abortion clinics, unlicensed cattle slaughter houses, Hotels without permits, illegal sand mining places, drug offenders and Video parlous selling ‘blue’ films.

The Kurunegala Police division comprises of 10 Police stations. A spokesman for the Kurunegala SSP office said that under the guidance of Police Chief, Dr.  Mahinda Balalsuriya they intensified their search operations and deployed more Police personal to catch offenders.

He also said that one key factor was the regular meeting the SSP. Vaas Gunawardane has with the heads of the 10 police stations.
