<p>Making the Police service more public friendly, an online facility to lodge complaints has been launched by the Police Department, today. 

  

<p>Inspector General of Police Dr. Mahinda Balasuriya launching the <mailto:–telligp@police.lk>–telligp@police.lk -  told a press conference short while ago that any complaint including irregularities in some Police stations, delay in taking actions for complaints and even tip offs – can be sent through the online facility. 

  

<p>“We will guarantee the confidentiality of the complainant 100 percent”, he said. 

  

<p>He said for this 24-hour service the public could access the website <http://www.police.lk/>www.police.lk 

  

<p>Complaints can be lodged in all three languages. 

  

<p>He said the actions with regard to the complaints lodged through the online facility would be taken within two weeks and the police will send the replies online to the respective complainants. 

  

<p>Senior DIG Gamini Nawaratne is in-charge of the facility. The online complaint system commences its functions from October 18.
