President Rajapaksa briefed Indian PM [October 16 2010]

President Mahinda Rajapaksa briefed the Indian Premier Dr Manmohan Singh on the progress of resettling of internally displaced people in their original habitats.

He thanked the Indian government for building 50,000 houses for the IDPs.

Wishing President Rajapaksa for his President for his second swearing in in November, Indian Premier stressed the importance of implementing the conclusions and objectives of the Joint Declaration adopted at the conclusion of the state visit of President Rajapaksa to India in June, 2010.

At the meeting held at the Prime Ministers official residence, both leaders agreed to work together for the benefit of the people and said that the post conflict era had strengthened the economic cooperation between two countries.

The Ministers of External Affairs of the two countries Mr S M Krishna and Prof G L Peiris were among the guests.
