Sri Lanka to implement a tri-language policy [October 18 2010]

Indian experience would be sought as Sri Lanka plans to fully implement its tri-language policy. An official from Indias Ministry of Human Resources Development will soon be here to share their experience in tri-language education.

This follows discussions between Sri Lanka External Affairs Minister Prof. G.L. Peiris and Indian Minister of Human Resources Development Kapil Sibal. The visiting official is expected to educate Sri Lankan officials on the implementation of the tri-language education policy of India.

The possibility of implementing the policy of educating public with their mother tongue, English, and a regional language spoken in their respective areas as in practice in India will also be explored.
