No shortage of English teachers, next year [October 20 2010]

Education Minister Bandula Gunawardane assured the shortage of English medium teachers for Advanced Level classes in National schools will be solved with the appointing of over 1500 trained English teachers next year.

Minister Gunawardane said as the initial step of this program, 500 teachers were absorbed to Advanced Level classes at all national schools in the country last week.

He said these teachers were appointed to teach the main subjects, including Science, Mathematics, Commerce, Accounting, Biology, Chemistry and Political Science.

He also said all schools in the country have been provided with adequate teachers to teach subjects in all three mediums Sinhala, Tamil and English
