Kilinochchi water tank, a monument soon [October 21 2010]

The giant water tank blown by the LTTE in Kilinochchi will be displayed as a monument.

Following a suggestion by the parliamentarian Namla Rajapaksa, the water tank in the heart of the Kilinochchi Town would be displayed as a remnant of the destruction caused by the LTTE in the North.

The Governor Northern Province G.A Chandrasiri said the damaged water tank was popular tourist attraction among local and foreign tourists to the North.

“The construction work will begin tomorrow with the assistance of the Army”, he said.

The LTTE terrorists had destroyed the water tank that supplied water to the entire Kilinochchi district.

The wreckages left due to three decade long war in the North have become prime tourist attraction today.
