The first stage of the Nugegoda shopping complex for pavement hawkers will be opened in the second week of November.

The complex located near the bus station adjoining the Super market would provide facilities to accommodate 186 shops and is being designed and constructed by the Central Engineering Consultation Bureau. (CECB)

Chairman, CECB, Nihal Rupasinge said that they will build 200 additional shops near the present vegetable market in Nugegoda starting from December.

He said that the Nugegoda complex was completed in just 15 days and it cost around Rs. 15 million for the whole project. “This included the construction of the pavements as well as other additional infrastructure,” he said.
