Sri Lanka’s one day match washed off [October 24 2010]

Sri Lanka’s second warm-up match on the current tour of Australia – against New South Wales, was abandoned without a ball being bowled in Sydney today.

The match, Sri Lankas final 50-over warm-up before the three-match ODI series against Australia next week was washed out due to wet weather. After beating Queensland convincingly in the tour opener on Friday, the visitors were hoping for more practice but the covers stayed on and the contest was called off without a ball being bowled.

Any practice was limited to the SCGs indoor nets and Muttiah Muralitharan and Kumar Sangakkara both had a light session. Sri Lanka will meet New South Wales in a Twenty20 fixture on Wednesday before playing Australia in a one-off T20 international in Perth next Sunday. The three-match one-day international series between Sri Lanka and Australia begins in Melbourne on November 3.
