Lankans gets employment in Israel [October 29 2010]

For the first time a batch of 300 seasonal agricultural workers were provided employment in Israel through the mediation of the Sri Lanka Foreign Employment Agency (SLFEA)

This opportunity came Sri Lanka way subsequent to a pilot project launched by the Government of Israel in agreement with Government of Sri Lanka.

“Government of Israel recruits expatriate manpower only from countries where bi lateral agreements for recruitment prevails between two respective countries, said the mentor behind the project, Chairman SLEFA, Asanga Abeyagoonasekara.

He said that the Israel agriculture pattern changers every six months and Sri Lanka workers would be provided employment for six months.

“However unlike in other foreign employment jobs each Sri Lankan employee would be paid in the excess over Rs. 110, 000 per month with all expenses paid,” he said.

Abeyagoonasekara added that they are now looking at simile opportunities in other countries.
