Lankans gets employment in Israel

<P>For the first time a batch of 300 seasonal agricultural workers were
provided employment in Israel through the mediation of the Sri Lanka
Foreign Employment Agency (SLFEA)

<P>This opportunity came Sri Lanka way subsequent to a pilot project
launched by the Government of Israel in agreement with Government of
Sri Lanka.

<P>“Government of Israel recruits expatriate manpower only from countries
where bi lateral agreements for recruitment prevails between two
respective countries, said the mentor behind the project, Chairman
SLEFA, Asanga Abeyagoonasekara.

<P>He said that the Israel agriculture pattern changers every six months
and Sri Lanka workers would be provided employment for six months.

<P>“However unlike in other foreign employment jobs each Sri Lankan
employee would be paid in the excess over Rs. 110, 000 per month with
all expenses paid,” he said.

<P>Abeyagoonasekara added that they are now looking at simile
opportunities in other countries.
