Kothmale tunnel opens for public viewing

<p>Sri Lanka’s longest tunnel that built in the Upper Kotmale Hydropower
project is opened for public now.

<p>The 12.9km long tunnel, with a  diameter of 5.2 metres to carry water
from the Kotmale stream to the power station was declared open by
President Mahinda Rajapaksa, today.

<p>Upper Kotamle  is almost the country's last large scale Hydro Power
project with the capacity of 150 MW power generation added to national
Grid with Japanese aid.
