The recent shortages of saline in Government hospitals were due to managerial - shortcomings of the State Pharmaceutical Corporation, Health Minister Maithripala Sirisena told the Parliament.

A special investigation is in progress in this regard. Action would be taken against those responsible at the conclusion of this investigation, the Minister said.

It is the SPC which imports stocks of saline required by the State hospitals, he said.

Minister said this in response to a question raised by the UNP MP Dayasiri Jayasekera.
