Doctors from South to Jaffna [November 13 2010]

Doctors attached to the Southern hospitals will be transferred to Jaffna district to solve the shortage of doctors in the Jaffna hospitals, Health ministry sources said.

Minister Maithreepala Sirisena has agreed to send doctors from the Southern hospitals to Jaffna before the end of November to solve the shortage.

According to Jaffna Regional Director of Health Dr. Arumugam Ketheeswaran, the Jaffna peninsula needs over 100 medical officers but there are only 25 doctors for the entire district.
