Sugar level high in local sweets [November 23 2010]

With increasing number of diabetes cases, the Medical Research Institute recommends to reduce sugar level in local sweets by five percent.

A study by the MRI has revealed that local sweets available in the market contain excessive amount of sugar.

According to MRI sources, there are over 25 percent diabetes patients in the country’s total population and this will increase upto 50 percent by 2020. Over 15 percent of the school children are in the early stage of diabetes.
