Illegal printing press raided [November 23 2010]

A police raided an illegal printing press in the Palukanda in the Galgamuwa, police said.

The raid was led by OIC Chief Inspector Jayalath of the Galgamuwa police.

Police discovered a large number of forged motor vehicle driving licences, marriage certificates, certificates of educational qualifications, National Identity Cards (NIC), a forged rubber stamps of an additional district registrar, several other rubber stamps, a stock pile of laminating paper for printing purposes, a computer used for forgery.

A former accountant of a Co-operative store who ran the illegal printing press was taken into custody following the discovery. More suspects are to be arrested in this connection police said. (JJ)
